Orange alert for bad weather today in Calabria and Campania, where it snows on Vesuvius and Capri is isolated.
The alarm level is yellow in 7 other regions of Italy: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Lazio, Molise, Sardinia, Sicily and Umbria.
Thunderstorms and strong winds sweep the Center-South and strong storms are expected.
It snows above 700-900 meters in the central regions and in Sardinia, while over half a meter has also fallen in Alto Adige.
CAMPANIA - It is
snowing on Vesuvius and temperatures are falling sharply. The residents of Naples and its province have to deal with the wave of bad weather that has been affecting the area for a few days, where the civil protection has issued the weather alert status until 6 pm. In particular,
the volcano is
mostly
covered with snow
, while in the cities located on its slopes it continues to rain with a certain insistence. This aspect has convinced several mayors to order the
closure of schools, public parks and cemeteries

In Capri
, stormy sea and powerful showers of rain have been lashing the island since Saturday evening and have isolated it even on Sunday.
There was no connection from the mainland
, as predicted by the weather, and the stop of arrivals blocked the daily food supplies at the departure ports of Naples and Sorrento.
The bad weather could continue in the next few hours in Campania, even if starting at 18 this afternoon and until tomorrow we will go from an 'orange' level to a 'yellow' level alert.
SARDINIA -
The
first snowflakes fell yesterday afternoon,
but this morning the villages of Nuorese and Ogliastra woke up white, from Fonni to Tonara to Desulo, from Villagrande to Perdasdefogu, from Gavoi and Ollolai to Nuoro city. The white flakes were also seen in other towns of the Barbagia di Seulo, such as in Esterzili, where there was a snowstorm. The peak temperatures, even in Cagliari where this morning touches 5 degrees, favored the ice in the streets where the first discomforts occurred during the night and at dawn.
In the Nuoro area, bad weather is causing
telephone and electricity lines
to go
haywire.
Many towns are isolated from the early hours of the morning, from Fonni to Gavoi to Ollolai
and in all the neighboring towns, due to a breakdown that occurred in the electrical substations.
Due to adverse weather and sea conditions,
the maritime connections between Sardinia and Corsica
have been
suspended
, while there have been inconveniences on the route to and from Carloforte Fermo for three days, due to the stormy sea, the Moby ferry that travels on the Santa Teresa Gallura -Bonifacio.
All the maritime traffic for the island of San Pietro (Carloforte) was diverted, however, from the port of Portovesme to that of Calasetta, with the same timetables and the same shipping.
FORECASTS -
Cloudbursts, snow at low altitudes and increasingly harsh weather: bad weather "is serious" and during the week that has just begun new polar raids will head towards Italy, especially affecting the South. Antonio Sanò, director and founder of the site www.iLMeteo.it announces that already in the next few hours we will have to deal with the effects produced by an insidious polar irruption: real storms are not to be excluded, with accumulations of rain up to 100 mm (100 liters per square meter) in a short time.
