The Allonnes mosque will not escape the temporary closure.

Seized in summary by its managers, the Council of State rejected this Monday the challenges of the managers of this religious establishment, suspected of promoting a radical practice of Islam and being the subject of an administrative closure.

In its ordinance dated November 29, the Council of State considers in particular that "the prefect of Sarthe was able, without committing an error of law or of fact, to estimate that the remarks made and the ideas and theories disseminated by the place of worship (…) constituted provocations justifying (…) its temporary closure (…) ”.

On October 13, the prefecture announced that it had initiated a closing procedure against this mosque, which accommodates around 300 worshipers and a Koranic school with 110 children.

Apology of Jihad and Sharia according to the Interior

"The sermons advocated in this mosque legitimized in particular the use of armed jihad while cultivating a feeling of hatred towards France," Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on Twitter on Tuesday, defending the closure of the place of worship.

The day after the announcement of the closure of the establishment, the associations and managers of the Allonnes mosque (Sarthe), had then unveiled their desire to challenge the closure in court.

They had also denounced "the serious accusations brought by the Ministry of the Interior".

“Quite spectacularly, the reproaches leveled against the Allonnes mosque are based on peremptory assertions contained in

, unsigned and undated documents, emanating from the intelligence services to the exclusion of all precise and concrete element ”, argued the lawyers of the Al Qalam association.

The measure to close this mosque near Le Mans for six months has been in effect since October 27.

"By taking the contested measure, he did not violate manifestly illegal freedom of religion", further indicates the Council of State.

“In total, more than 650 places frequented by fundamentalists have been closed.

During this mandate we have dissolved a dozen structures of worship, mosques, three times more than under the two previous terms combined ”, had underlined Gabriel Attal, the spokesperson of the government, at the announcement of the measures.
