Three free-running ponies caused traffic accidents on Autobahn 2 near Bielefeld.
Two of the animals died in collisions with vehicles, as the Bielefeld police announced.
Accordingly, drivers reported three ponies on the hard shoulder several times during the night.
When the police arrived, there had already been two fatal collisions.
According to the information, a truck from Gelsenkirchen first collided with a pony.
Then a 38-year-old driver collided with another animal.

A farmer from Bad Salzuflen took the animal into his care.
The rightful owner of the pony, a 56-year-old man from Herford, appeared at the Autobahn police station that morning.
