(ANSA) - LA PAZ, 01 DEC - The Public Prosecutor's Office of La Paz presented a formal accusation against JeanineAñez, interim Bolivian president for one year from November 2019 after the exile of President Evo Morales, for crimes of "violation of duties and decisions contrary to the Constitution and the laws". The newspaper La Razon writes today, quoting the Secretary General of the Prosecutor's Office, Edwin Quispe.
With the presentation of the formal accusation, said the magistrate, "we have already passed the preliminary phase, thanks to the presentation of over 70 evidence duly verified, and almost twenty witness statements that indicate conduct of criminal relevance on the part of Ms Añez".
Arrested on March 13, the former senator has since been in prison with a preventive detention regime.
In his confrontations, four cases have been opened concerning, in addition to state alcoholism against Morales, also complicity in two massacres committed by the police and economic and administrative crimes.
