An Italian violinist's violin worth tens of thousands of euros was stolen in a TGV train in France.
The Orchester des Champs-Elysées launched a call for witnesses on Twitter.
The instrument was lost on the way to Paris after a concert in Poitiers.
On arrival at the Paris-Montparnasse train station, the musician noticed the loss of his instrument, which he had owned for 15 years, said the orchestra's production manager, David Réveillault, told France bleu.
It is a violin made by Eugenio Degani, a Venetian violin maker from the late 19th century.
Violin reported stolen
"It's a terrible loss for a professional musician, it's the violin of a life, a career," said the production manager.
"He lived with this instrument, developed it further, regulated it, they formed a couple on the stage."
"It's like he's lost part of himself."
Réveillault appealed to the thief to return the instrument.
The instrument was reported as stolen and no violin maker would buy it from him.
If he tries to sell the violin, there's a good chance he'll get caught.
