The Canadian Kobo, a subsidiary of the Japanese group Rakuten, is launching its new Kobo Plus subscription service in France, in partnership with Fnac.
Already available in the Netherlands, Italy, Australia and New Zealand, you have to pay 9.99 euros per month in France to access 57,000 e-books in French.
The price of the subscription goes up to 13 euros per month if the user wishes to add audio reading to his books.
The subscriber will be able to read the books on his Kobo e-reader, on a PC and a smartphone.
For Kobo, France represents its fourth market.
“In general, the 10% of book lovers actually represent 70% of income.
With Kobo Plus, these are the book enthusiasts we are targeting, ”
says Michael Tamblyn, CEO of the brand.
Lang law compliant
Among the references are thrillers, romance, science fiction, classic literature, children's books or even comics.
