An apparently human placenta and bloody pants were found at a hospital in Mönchengladbach on Tuesday afternoon.
The exchange of nutrients with the child takes place in the mother's womb via the placenta, also known as the “placenta” or “afterbirth”.
Shortly after the child is born, the placenta is also excreted.
Police called on parents to report if they needed help
After the placenta was found, the police were informed, and they searched the area around the hospital with service dogs and a crew of hundreds.
However, she found no other traces or things.
There is no evidence that the placenta was merely improperly disposed of in the hospital.
According to the police, it is conceivable that someone wanted to bring a child to the clinic's baby hatch, but then made a different decision.
Therefore, the police are now appealing to parents to contact them or a medical facility if they need help.
