A 15-year-old teenager opened fire with a semi-automatic weapon at a high school in the city of Oxford, Michigan, in the north of the United States.
The toll is particularly heavy: three dead and six injured.
The suspect, a high school student, and the victims are very young.
This is the 139th shooting in the United States since the beginning of the year.
The 15-year-old gunman in his second grade at the school opened fire on students and teachers killing a 16-year-old boy and two girls, 14 and 17. The student would have fired between 15 and 20 times with a semi-automatic handgun. "He's already invoked his right not to speak, so he wants a lawyer, he's not telling us anything yet," said Michael McCabe, Oakland County Deputy Sheriff.
President Joe Biden paid tribute to the victims during a trip to Dakota.
“I am wholeheartedly with the families who endure the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one,” he said before a speech on his infrastructure bill.
The American president had called for toughening the law on the circulation of firearms.
But Congress, under the influence of the gun lobby, regularly blocks the subject.
