Surgical tubal ligation surgery insulates the sperm produced in the testicles and prevents the passage of sperm cells during intercourse.

The surgery ensures complete protection against unwanted pregnancy and does not affect the feeling of sexual pleasure or the color and smell of the semen.

It is customary to choose this option when exhausting the family expansion process.

The course of the surgery

Surgery to bind sperm tubes is done under local anesthesia.

In the first stage, the surgeon opens the scrotum, identifies the tube through which the sperm cells are transferred, cuts about an inch and a half from it and takes it out of the scrotum - with the end closest to the testicle left open to prevent congestion and testicular pain.

Next the surgeon ties the distal end of the tube (near the groin) rotated 180 degrees, performs another ligation and finally disguises it in the connective tissue bag created in order to maintain an optimal distance between the two ends.

The operation lasts about half an hour, is not accompanied by complications or scars and can be returned to routine on the same day.

Is the surgery reversible?

The surgery is irreversible but there is no impediment to placing future offspring in the process of artificial insemination if the patient has frozen sperm cells ahead of time.

Preliminary preparations for surgery

As mentioned earlier this is a relatively short procedure done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia (if required). On the day before the operation, the scrotum should be shaved and on the day of the operation, you should go to the clinic to perform the medical procedure, it should be noted that in most cases a preliminary doctor's examination is not required. The surgery is completely technical and focuses on subcutaneous action aimed at isolating and ligating the sperm ducts. Because this process does not involve blood vessels or nerve cells it is not accompanied by complications. After surgery it is important to place an ice pack on the area for 15 minutes every hour and for 48 hours. Accompanying pain can be relieved by taking paracetamol.

It is important to note that after surgery about 15-20 ejaculations should be performed to empty the "cartridges".

In the last stage, a test is performed to test whether the ejaculated fluid is deficient in sperm cells, and after four days, regular sexual intercourse can be performed when the erection and feeling of pleasure is maintained at its best.

* It should be emphasized that surgery to bind sperm ducts prevents unwanted pregnancy but does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases - so when there is a risk of infection, additional contraceptives should be used.

In conclusion, sperm tube ligation surgery allows men who want to avoid sperm theft to have safe sex with regular partners knowing that the semen excreted during intercourse does not contain sperm cells - this fact can be repeatedly confirmed in laboratory tests and be free from any responsibility for future pregnancies. In addition, the surgery is suitable for any person who has reached full exhaustion of the birth process and is interested in assisting his partner in preventing unwanted pregnancies. As mentioned, this process does not lead to male infertility because the body continues to produce sperm cells, but at the same time because it is an irreversible surgery, it is recommended in advance to freeze sperm cells in the sperm bank and use artificial insemination procedures for future reproduction.
