There they are at last: the first recordings of the rehearsals for the big tattoo on Angela Merkel's farewell this Thursday.
The staff music corps, the musicians of the Bundeswehr, stand with their wind instruments in a row of two on wooden pallets and get started.
You play an acoustic version of the great Nina Hagen hit "You forgot the color film".
A Bundeswehr soldier published a clip of the rehearsal on Twitter.
And it's fun to watch the video because you can barely hold back and have to rock in front of the screen.
For her farewell ceremony, Angela Merkel had chosen not only the "color film", Hildegard Knef's "For me it should rain red roses" and the hymn "Great God, we praise you".
Knef and Hagen had initially caused difficulties for the staff music corps: "The two songs are not in our music archive," said conductor and Lieutenant Colonel Reinhard Kiauka of the daily newspaper "taz".
For the well-known GDR hit by Nina Hagen, there was still no brass music version.
A clarinetist from the Bundeswehr Music Corps in Siegburg wrote a new arrangement in a very short time.
And that seems to have been very successful.
Because the video from the rehearsal was already very popular in the Twitter community.
Many users thanked Angela Merkel for choosing this song.
“They say she has a very fine sense of humor.
Now I believe it too, «wrote one user.
"Seldom have I felt as connected to Angela #Merkel as I did with this song!" Tweeted another user.
"Already legendary," said another user.
Some users worried that the song would be understood abroad.
The Guardian already wrote that Merkel's selection had caused the Germans to wonder how well they really know their chancellor.
And what is the secret message behind this musical wish?
In response to the video, other Twitter users posted black and white photos (“forget color film”) and other color photos (“don't forget color film”).
It remains to be seen whether Angela Merkel will rock this evening.
But it seems possible.
