(Edit: Stick Pages)

Imagine you are in the middle of an important meeting and suddenly burst into tears, or attend a funeral and suddenly burst into uncontrollable laughter?

To most people this sounds like an illogical situation.

But there are people for whom this is the reality they have to deal with every day - they call it crying and laughing syndrome or PBA.

This symptom is most often caused after a stroke or neurological disease, and causes uncontrollable bouts of crying and laughing, regardless of the situation.

This is an abnormal command of the brain, which does not reflect the true emotion or feeling of those suffering from the syndrome.

Seizures are usually short and sudden and can last from a few seconds to a few minutes.

Many sufferers of the syndrome are embarrassed by it and avoid social situations and do not even share it with their doctors.

Because PBA is a neurological syndrome, there are currently several treatments that can reduce the frequency of its seizures, so involving the attending physician in the condition can bring relief to the patient's feelings.
