After months of suspense, Eric Zemmour announced his candidacy for the 2022 presidential election in a ten-minute video posted on Youtube on Tuesday, November 30.
On Wednesday evening, the clip seen by 2.5 million people was restricted by the American platform.
The content has since been subject to an age limit, minors and people without an account no longer have access.

In a press release, the Google subsidiary justifies its decision: “
YouTube regulations generally prohibit shocking or violent content.
In the event that a video contains an element that is not suitable for all users, we make sure to apply an age limit in order to protect them
”.
The images of demonstrations or urban brawls used are therefore not compatible with the rules of the video service.
A criticized video
Youtube's decision to restrict the footage comes after the video was already controversial.
Several people and companies are considering taking legal action against the candidate who allegedly used extracts in his video without paying the rights.
This is for example the case of Gaumont who discovered the use, without authorization, of extracts from films such as “
A monkey in winter
” by Henri Verneuil and “
Jeanne D'arc
” by Luc Besson.
The company quickly indicated that it was preparing a summary action.

As long as the copyright issue is not resolved, the video will not be excluded from the platform.
A spokesperson told
Le Figaro
that “
YouTube is not in charge of mediating copyright claims, which are the subject of negotiation between the parties concerned.
It's not up to YouTube to determine who “owns the rights” to content.
We give copyright owners tools to claim copyright and users who upload content opportunities to challenge incorrectly made claims
. ”
