OECD: October inflation at 5.2%, at the top since 1997

Inflation in the OECD area increased to reach 5.2% in October 2021 against 4.6% in September and 1.2% in October 2020. For the OECD area, this is the highest level since February 1997. (ANSA)


(ANSA) - PARIS, 02 DEC - Inflation in the OECD area has increased to reach 5.2% in October 2021 against 4.6% in September and 1.2% in October 2020. For the OECD area, this is the highest level since February 1997. Energy prices increased by 24.2% in the area, at the top since 1980.


   In the euro area, inflation increased, to 4.1% in October versus 3.4% in September and -0.3% a year earlier.

It remained below the OECD average as a whole and below the United States where the figure jumped to 6.2%.

The price index rose to 3% in Italy: energy was the main driver and contributed 2.1 points.
