Is the
maestro
fit to continue the scene?
The Spanish lyric singer Plácido Domingo is expected this Thursday, December 2 at La Scala in Milan, where he will perform Verdi, Bellini and Giordano in the company of soprano Roberta Mantegna and under the direction of Marco Armiliato.
After all, a classic program for the world-famous tenor, except that it will be the first concert since an abortive Moscow party just a week ago.
Announced last November 25 at the Bolshoi Theater, the singer was forced, to everyone's surprise, to forfeit only a few hours before the start of the performance of
La Traviata
by Giuseppe Verdi.

The sudden absence of the tenor, replaced at short notice by baritone Stanislav Kuflyuk, was due to
"health problems"
, a Bolshoi
press
release said without further details.
Plácido Domingo
"took part in a full rehearsal yesterday, but today he did not feel well,"
Bolshoi director Vladimir Urin commented laconically last week for the Russian news agency TASS, adding that the star had not been hospitalized.
A detail that is important, the performance of the Bolshoi is not the first accident of the season for the Hispanic singer who will celebrate his 81st birthday in January.
Cascading worries
Before his retirement from Russia, the opera grumpy had already had to surrender in Vienna, two weeks earlier.
On November 12, his voice weakened, Plácido Domingo was forced to throw in the towel, during the performance of
Nabucco,
due to a sore throat.
He was replaced by his colleague Amartuvshin Enkhbat, in the middle of the evening given in the Vienna Opera.
As in Russia, the Spanish singer was not however hospitalized that evening and was able to come and greet the public at the end of the performance.

On his social networks, Plácido Domingo does not let anything yet shine through what happened in Russia or Austria during the past month.
"See you tonight, the Scala theater!"
, he even communicates with enthusiasm on Twitter, a few hours before going on stage. Questions about his state of health remain, as Plácido Domingo's general health has deteriorated markedly in recent years. In November 2020, the tenor was forced to suspend a planned tour in Italy. Earlier in the year, he also had Covid and was briefly admitted to a hospital in Acapulco (Mexico).
These health problems have added to a few difficult years for the singer.
Accused since 2019 of harassment and sexual assault by twenty women, Plácido Domingo was forced to resign from his post as artistic director of the Los Angeles Opera.
Several of his concerts have been canceled, notably in London and Spain.
The lyrical artist, who claims to have
"never abused anyone"
, asked forgiveness from his victims in February 2020, feeling
"sincerely sorry for the suffering caused".
