A smart fishing net?

Have these Ifremer researchers found how to limit the impact of fishing on the marine ecosystem?

Called Game of Trawls, a nod to the successful Game of Thrones series, this device, still in the test state, would make it possible to inform the fisherman, in real time, of the size of the species caught as well as their number.

All this thanks to a system of opening and closing of the trawl.

Across the world each year, a quarter of the fishery is discarded at sea or brought back to quay without being exploited.

That is a total of 20 million tonnes of fish.

If some fishermen are closely interested in the Breton invention, others are already worried about its price while the morale of the profession is at its lowest.
