Blue fish will be the protagonist in Rome, from 21 to 23 December, with three days dedicated to the biodiversity of our seas and conscious consumption.
To promote them is the first edition of "Pesce in Piazza", an event scheduled in Piazza Mastai, in Trastevere.
The initiative, curated by Un / Lab (a company that deals with planning, organization and management of events with the artistic direction of Francesca Rocchi), is organized in collaboration with the Rome Agri-food Center, which hosts the fish market.
The event will address the issues of fish consumption, traditional fishing and the sustainability of the seas, topics related to climate change and in tune with the International Year of Fishing and Aquaculture 2022 declared by the FAO.
The themes will be at the center of meetings, tastings, multimedia moments.
Four clusters will animate the event: Princess Alice, a path dedicated to the great potential of the consumption of blue fish, Without thorns, a focus on molluscs, seafood and less known crustaceans, Traditional fish recipes, an excursus on the many fish dishes of traditional Italian cuisine, A sea of colors, educational playful moments dedicated to children.
On the opening day of "Pesce in Piazza", at 4.42 pm you can attend the Cottìo: the fish auction that was held before Christmas Eve at the Portico D'Ottavia in Rome.
Certain news of this tradition - informs a note - dates back to the twelfth century and lasted until the early nineteenth century.
The Cottìo 2.0 will bring back - the organizers explain - "the voices, the looks of a never forgotten Roman rite of socio-cultural interest, a fish auction that becomes a real Christmas ceremony".
Cooks and families will be involved.
The Cottìo will be repeated on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 December, always at sunset.
