Police officers shot and injured an armed man several times while evacuating an apartment in Munich.

The 46-year-old, who was known to the police, threatened to shoot people on Friday and was not accessible, said a police spokesman.

The bailiff had alerted the police that special forces had moved into the area in the south-east of Munich.

Bystanders or police officers were not injured, the spokesman said.

The shots were fired in the apartment.

The 46-year-old was taken to hospital with an upper arm injury.

According to the police, there was no danger to the public.
