Benbebula Island: 90 holes dug

Peggy MacSween thought it was hopeless, she would probably never wear her wedding ring on her finger again: in the late 1960s she was looking for potatoes in a field near her house on the Scottish island of Benbecula.
When she shook sand from her gloves, the ring slipped off her finger, the BBC reported.
Only when she got home did she notice that the ring was missing.
Once or twice she went to the field to look for the ring, but she did not find it.
And gave up the search.
Her husband bought her a replacement ring some time later while on vacation - and that could have ended the story.
Recently, however, Donald McPhee rang the doorbell of the old lady.
The islander found the 86-year-old's wedding ring and gave it back to her - after more than 50 years.
McPhee had heard that she had lost him.
And because he had a metal detector, he started looking.
It took him three days, dug 90 holes, found old pieces of metal and beverage cans, and also the wedding ring.
"I couldn't believe it," MacSween said on the BBC.
She thought she would never see him again.
