(ANSA) - STRASBOURG, DEC 03 - Turkey risks being seriously sanctioned if it does not intervene immediately to free Osman Kavala, the philanthropist and opponent of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as required by a ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
This is the ultimatum launched by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe which notified Ankara of their intention to open an infringement procedure if the Kavala case has not been resolved by 22 February 2022. (ANSA).
