The police discovered five dead in a residential building in Königs Wusterhausen south of Berlin.
According to the Cottbus public prosecutor's office and the South Police Department, there are two adults and three children aged 4, 8 and 10 years.
The two adults are 40 years old.
The bodies had gunshot and stab wounds.
As the police announced, a call was received at noon.
The caller found it unusual that the residents of the house in the Senzig district could not be seen.
"We assume it's a homicide crime," said the police spokesman.
Criminal investigations were immediately initiated, which continued in the afternoon.
In addition to forensic technicians, an expert from the Brandenburg Institute for Forensic Medicine was on site.
So far, there is no information on the possible background to the crime.
