Reborn, on TV the true story of Manuel Bortuzzo

It is the night of February 2, 2019. Manuel, a 19-year-old promising young swimmer, originally from Treviso but who lived with his family in Trieste and moved to Rome to pursue his dream of becoming a champion and participating in the Olympics, is hit in the back by a bullet for mistaken identity. Shooting is over for Rinascere, the true story of Manuel Bortuzzo, now 22, the TV film co-produced by Rai Fiction and Moviheart directed by Umberto Marino. It will be called as the book (Rebirth the year I started winning again, published by Rizzoli) written by the young athlete, the TV movie soon to be broadcast on Rai1 which tells the story of the swimmer who was paralyzed in Rome, after being hit in a shootout for a mistaken identity.The interpreters are Alessio Boni in the part of Franco Bortuzzo, the swimmer's father, and Giancarlo Commare in that of the protagonist, Manuel's brother Kevin will play his stunt double while swimming. We all know the images of that night, taken by a surveillance camera: the boy collapses to the ground, his girlfriend, Martina, bends over him. Then the rush to the hospital, the operations and once the danger of life was averted, the diagnosis: complete spinal cord injury. Then the wheelchair, rehabilitation, Manuel's smile, despite the absurdity of what happened to him, relaunched by TV and newspapers. But also what we don't know about Manuel: the suffering, the despair, the anger after "that night", and above all the strength that he had to find within himself,the teachings he was able to recognize also in this story, the determination of the sportsman and the special boy he proved to be. With only one goal, to live the new condition to the fullest, fighting to the end, with all the physical and mental energies, to take back what was taken away from him. "It was easy to say I was the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. But it wasn't me in the wrong place and at the wrong time, I was leading my life like any other guy. They were the ones who got the wrong life and me. I had nothing to do with it, "said Manuel. Since then Bortuzzo has returned to training in the pool, and is able to do it by leveraging his arms, he has done many things, among these he has decided to participate in the Big Brother Vip. AND'one of the most beloved characters of the most watched house on TV where, in addition to being courted by some tenants, he spoke of his pain and, above all, of the way of living every day carrying such a heavy burden. The swimming champion let his teammates know, despite always appearing strong, that he had had emotional breakdowns: "I keep my pain inside, I feel bad, but I do this. I found my key in simply being alone and walking away a little from the others ". At the moment Bortuzzo, as revealed by his father, has to decide whether to stay until March 2022 or leave the big brother's house by the holidays. It is not the first time that Manuel Bortuzzo has dealt with the world of cinema and TV: in fact, Raoul Bova decided to make a film "Last race", for Mediaset,with the participation of other champions such as Rosolino, Magnini, and Brambilla. There is the number 12 tattooed on Manuel Botuzzo's back, they are the millimeters that were missing from that bullet fired by two criminals to pierce the abdominal aorta. Manuel never gave up, with his smile, his desire to win again.
