In a context of strong epidemic recovery, a rave party illegally gathered up to 2,000 people on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

A rave party took place in parallel with the last evening of the 43rd Trans Musicales festival in Rennes.

Placed under high health surveillance, due to the 5th wave of Covid-19 and the threat of the Omicron variant, this flagship event in local and national cultural life brought together 56,000 people in five days, according to the organizers.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 11 p.m., 600 to 700 people moved into a disused hangar in an industrial zone in the town of Rennes.

They were joined at the height of the night by many participants.

“They were estimated between 1,500 and 2,000”, according to the prefecture.

And this Sunday morning, there were still 800 people there.

"Faced with the irresponsible nature of this undeclared rave party, which is also taking place in a context of a strong resumption of the covid-19 epidemic, the State services are strongly mobilized to ensure public order missions and health security ”, underlined the prefecture.

Covid screening points deployed

During the night, the firefighters intervened on several occasions, for light support, said the prefecture.

Six people had been evacuated to the Rennes University Hospital on Sunday mid-morning.

However, "faced with the health risks that this type of grouping with a high density of people represents, the prefecture is coordinating with the Brittany Regional Health Agency the setting up on site of an information system and screening points", added the prefecture.

The Prefect also invites participants "to consider themselves as risky contact cases, to isolate themselves at home immediately and to get tested quickly."

According to the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the incidence rate of the covid-19 epidemic was 249.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on December 3 in Brittany and 296 in Ille-et-Vilaine. .
