A French forest owner donated 20 tons of heating wood for refugee camps on the English Channel.
With the help of volunteers, the logs were brought from the Vosges to the Calais area, reported the newspaper "La Voix du Nord".
Over 1000 migrants are waiting there in makeshift, self-built accommodation for the possibility of an illegal crossing to Great Britain.
The wood is used for heating and cooking.
“We're hyper-grateful.
We say a big thank you to the woman.
We can get by with this wood for anywhere from three weeks to a month, ”Pierre Roques, one of the volunteers, told the newspaper.
The refugee crisis near Calais has been going on for years.
A week and a half ago, 27 people died in the English Channel on the way to Great Britain because their boat capsized.
Since then, France and Great Britain have been wrestling again to deal with the increasing number of migrants arriving in Great Britain via the English Channel.
A solution is not yet in sight.
