"I am proud, like all Sicilians, of the judges we had: Falcone, Borsellino, Livatino and many others who paid with their lives for the commitment to justice. And I say with pride that these men were Sicilians, who knew that they could have lost their lives and have continued to do their duty. When they tell me: 'Sicily mafia', I answer "'Sicily Falcone'". Anti-Mafia Sicily, but not only: a region that the writer Simonetta Agnello Hornby brings to the small screen, choosing and commenting on the "Domenica Con" schedule, the space curated by Giovanni Paolo Fontana and Enrico Salvatori, broadcast on Sunday 5 December from 14 to 24 on Rai Storia.

A schedule in which in the afternoon, starting from the "roots" of her Palermo and the Leopard according to Ugo Gregoretti, the stories of Falcone and Borsellino, of Sicily according to John Turturro and voices and faces of women, from singer-songwriter Rosa Balistreri to photojournalist Letizia, intertwine Battle. And to Sicilian women, she also dedicates the doc "Volere Votare" to the battle for rights, which evokes familiar scenes: "In Sicily, true freedom was that of voting".

In the early evening the writer chooses Sicily at the cinema in Elio Petri's "To each one his own", taken from Sciascia, with Gian Maria Volontè and Irene Papas. In the late evening, however, there is "Vigàta nel cuore", the affectionate homage to Andrea Camilleri: "Andrea was a great man and we Sicilians owe him a lot ".

Simonetta Agnello Hornby's Sunday ends with the doc "Io & George", the journey she made with her son, suffering from multiple sclerosis, from England to Sicily.

An opportunity to reflect on the theme of disability and to go back to talking about the "heart" of the Sicilians: "Sicilians, on disability, are extraordinary: when we did 'Me and George', as soon as they noticed that he was in need, they intervened. In Sicily there is always this immediate help to those who are not able, man or woman, foreigner or not. We know that we must help each other and help others ".
