BICLOU, the “Parisian” bike series. The little queen is very good for your health. But ride a wrong size or wrong bike

In the streets of Paris full of cyclists on this cool November morning, it doesn't take long to rewind to find bike riders who talk about their daily afflictions. Tugging, blocking, pinching ... These little pains that worry when you have just rolled your first hundreds of bollards by bike. Or after a change of mount. “My lower back was very painful,” says Nathalie, perched on her electric urban bike. Sore limbs: a shame for this yoga teacher who knows her body by heart. “It's my saddle that was too high”. “In my case, it was tendonitis in the knees,” explains Matthieu bluntly. I rode Véligos for a long time. They are not at all suitable for adults ”.

In a bicycle shop, a salesman lets out a big "Ah saddles!"

Yes no one dares to talk about it but they all come to see me here to change it because of the pain.

"

No taboo at Biclou: we explain how to protect yourself from all these physical difficulties that sometimes make you give up cycling altogether.

"It is true that, for two years, I have seen these new patients in my office," confirms Damien Vedel.

He is a physiotherapist at the French Cycling Federation.

"They are not pros but patients who travel 15 or 20 km per day to get from their home to their place of work", specifies Damien.

And 85% of the injuries he treats are non-traumatic - that is, triggered by poor posture rather than a traffic accident.

If cycling is very good for your health, choosing the right bike is essential to avoid disappointments. The myth of the bike with the ideal posture: it does not exist. The choice of a biclou is made mainly according to its practice and the constraints of its own body. "You don't buy the Tour de France bike to go to work when you've never ridden a bike in your life," advises Damien Vedel with humor.

Generally speaking, when tracing asphalt daily on your favorite mount, there are four main areas of suffering to watch out for.

The back, from the lower back to the neck, knees, wrists and perineum area.

These parts are all strongly impacted by the modification of the moving parts of the bike: saddle, handlebars, stem, pedals.

A visit to a postural study workshop makes it possible to determine, down to the millimeter, the best adjustment of all these elements.

"Here people come in saying Hello Sir and go out with a goodbye doctor", jokes Yannick Lamarque, cycling trainer and bike fitter who has just created his postural study offer dedicated to bike riders at 150 euros.
