With the participation of Syria, the regional final competitions for the university programming competition in the Arab world and Africa AC for the year 2021, organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Luxor, Egypt, kicked off today.
Syria is represented in this competition, according to the statement of Saeed Srehini, the coordinator of the programming competition at Damascus University, to SANA: 17 teams are 3 teams from Damascus University, 3 teams from Aleppo University, 3 teams from Tishreen University, two teams from Al-Baath University and the Syrian Virtual University, and 3 teams from the Higher Institute of Sciences Applied Technology and a team from the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology Aleppo.
He pointed out that the tournament includes two rounds at the academy's headquarters in the Egyptian city of Luxor, the first being an experimental one that was conducted yesterday, and the second a regular round that takes place today and lasts for five continuous hours and includes high-level programming issues, indicating that the results will be announced this evening.
The competition, according to Srihini, is a way to gather a group of university students, programmers, trainers and academics working in the field of informatics in one place, and aims to enhance creativity and teamwork, encourage the construction of new software, and enable students to test their abilities and performance under pressure.
Each team consists of three members and a trainer, according to Srihini, who work on one computer to solve a set of life problems programmatically. The first place will be given to whoever succeeds in solving the largest number of problems in the shortest possible time, pointing out that the winning teams in the regional competition will qualify for the global programming competition that will be held later. .
The aforementioned competition is called the “War of Minds”, as it is more than just an academic and technological competition, and it is a ground for building a more cooperative global information society.
