Burma: the junta reduces the sentence of Suu Kyi to two years

RANGOON, 06 DEC - The Burmese military junta reduced the sentence imposed today on Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi by a Myanmar court from four to two years. (HANDLE)


(ANSA-AFP) - RANGOON, 06 DEC - The Burmese military junta has reduced the sentence imposed today on Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi from four to two years by a Myanmar court.


    76-year-old Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since the general coup on February 1st.

The junta has since accused her of a slew of alleged crimes, including violation of the law on official secrets, corruption and electoral fraud.
