While the fifth wave of Covid-19 has now "passed the peak of the third wave", according to the Minister of Solidarity and Health Olivier Véran, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the closure of nightclubs for four weeks from Friday.

"We must ease off social interactions," insisted Jean Castex, who indicated that if there was indeed "a measure that stands out" to contain contamination, including abroad, "it is the closure of this type of establishment ”.

The night sector will not be abandoned

Economic support for these companies is planned, assured the Prime Minister.

The nightclub sector, and the nightlife scene as a whole, has been hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis.

According to the Union of Trades and Hospitality Industries, of the 1,600 clubs in the country, 131 were placed in liquidation in 2020.

This decision was taken at the end of a Health Defense Council which was held this Monday at noon to decide on new health measures to be taken to stem the progression of the epidemic in France.
