(ANSA) - TEL AVIV, 06 DEC - Israel has postponed the controversial plan for the construction of about 9 thousand houses on the land of the old Atarot airport in East Jerusalem, which is located beyond the pre armistice lines of 1967. The plan - which mainly included houses for the Orthodox Jewish population - had been criticized by the international community, starting with the US.
The decision was taken by the Construction Commission of the Ministry of Finance of Jerusalem officially due to the need to investigate the environmental impact of the project.
