(ANSA) - HONIARA, DECEMBER 06 - The premier of the Solomon Islands Manasseh Sogavare has passed the vote of no confidence in parliament and will remain in government.
This was announced by the speaker, John PattesonOti, stating that the opposition motion was defeated 15 to 32. There was great tension in the capital on the eve of this vote with the police who had set up blockades around the parliament and isolated the streets of the center .
The opposition filed a motion to oust Sogavare accusing him of corruption and using Chinese funds to support his government.
