Along with the imposition of restrictions at Ben Gurion Airport, which certainly affects the number of tourists entering the State of Israel, hotels in Israel face another challenge. The entertainment in the pool and the sea, there is hardly anything left, so this year the hotels - especially those based on beach and pool vacations - try to reinvent themselves, provide a fun and different experience, and fill the visitors' stay with fascinating content.

The Dan hotel chain, for example, does not try to reinvent the wheel in the winter - and in some of its hotels it initiates weekends based on two things that the Israeli public especially likes: culinary and music. These are three days - from Thursday to Saturday - full of chef meals, performances by singers and sometimes also tours, lectures and talks. All of these are trying to replace the pool parties and sunbathing at the beach. At the Dan Acadia Hotel, for example, guests enjoyed a special dinner about two weeks ago by chef Ran Shmueli, who joined the hotel's chef Golan Israeli. The next day, Friday afternoon, the guests enjoyed an acoustic performance by musician Amir Dadon, which took place on a large lawn against the backdrop of the beautiful beach strip of Herzliya. On Saturday morning, guests watched a one-on-one conversation between culinary man David Kishka and food journalist Hila Alpert.

Last month, a similar weekend, on the purity of food and music, was held at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.

This weekend, hotel chef Roi Antebi hosted chef Haim Cohen;

Guests took a culinary tour of the Mahane Yehuda market;

Watch a performance by Esther Rada who hosted Micha Sheetrit;

And took a tour of the alleys of the Old City of Jerusalem with the archaeologist Dr. Haim Cohen.

"Everyone benefits from it"

The idea for the culinary weekend at Dan Acadia was born from friendships between the hotel's chef, Golan Israeli, and the son of chef Moshik Roth. "I offered him to cook together, we created a culinary weekend, it had a crazy response, and then we thought of making more collaborations with other chefs from the world of restaurants," an Israeli tells Walla! Tourism. "Everyone benefits from it - the hotel, the culinary, the kitchen staff, the chefs. Everyone cooks together, enjoys together, the chefs from the restaurants learn from us, we learn from them. There is no ego. It really is a great pleasure."

Israeli chef Golan resents when food in hotels is treated as inferior to food in restaurants. "There is a high level of food here that does not embarrass any of the best restaurants in Tel Aviv. I do not see Dan Acadia as a hotel for me but one large restaurant. We manage to strike a wide range of flavors - not too spicy, not too sweet, not oriental and too And not too Ashkenazi. It's an interesting game and we manage to crack it well. People think that because of kosher food, we have restrictions on food. But that's not true. We have solutions for everything. Both technological solutions for working and heating food on Friday-Saturday, and culinary solutions. By the way, most restaurants do not use pork anyway. "

A lot of hotels and entities combine culinary and music, for example Zappa who puts on a show of a singer while the chef cooks the food in the hall.

"Yes, because people want content before or after the meal. Performances connect the food to the content. Through success, a lot of connections and friendships are formed. People eat well, and life looks better on a full stomach. Depending on the performance, we can also adjust the food."

What can you say about the Israeli palate and the change it has undergone?

"It has undergone a change from end to end. The cooking programs have made Israelis understand that they understand food, want to taste everything. He also dines all over the world, including Michelin restaurants, and in Israel he gets excellent food, equivalent to the world. Israeli cuisine has made a leap of years. The latter and for us it is fun because it is a challenge. "

In the end, the only thing an Israeli chef Golan looks at during hotel meals is the trash can. "The garbage can test is the most important test of all. I stand next to the tin and see what dish is being thrown away. Then I check and see if it is really not eaten and try to understand why.In the end, it is the diner who matters. "

What characterizes Dan Acadia's kitchen?

"We have a spice that does not exist in many places - a lot of heart and soul."

One of the well-known symbols of Herzliya

Dan Acadia is one of the oldest hotels in Israel.

It was established 65 (!) Years ago and as a building with the red tiled roofs, it is considered one of the well-known symbols of Herzliya.

One of its clear advantages is that it sits right on the beach in Herzliya and within walking distance of the city's beautiful marina and the nearby Arena Mall.

The view from the room combines the endless blue of the nearby sea with the green that surrounds the hotel on all sides.

For moments, combined with the tranquility that prevails around and the palm trees in every corner, sitting on the balcony of the room gives the feeling that we have arrived at a resort in Thailand.

A few years ago, the hotel underwent a significant renovation of the main building with a financial investment of about NIS 40 million.

Dozens of rooms in the building - which was designated as a conservation building - as well as the dining halls and dining room, have undergone an upgrade in which all systems have been replaced.

New bathrooms were also built in all rooms.

In general, it can be said that the hotel is not too luxurious and not too strenuous, and perhaps this is exactly where the secret of its beauty lies.

The beautiful simplicity of the old hotel manages to enchant everyone who stays in it.

From Infected Mushroom to Berry Sakharof

The combination of music and culinary is not only unique to Dan Acadia.

Dan Caesarea Resort, for example, offered its guests last weekend a concept in which the hotel chef Daniel Fogel hosted the young chef Raz Rahav from the OCD restaurant. This is in addition to an acoustic show by Dana Berger and Hemi Rodner. On a half board basis of course.

And while Dan Caesarea tries to appeal to the older audience, Dan hotels in Eilat appeal to the younger generation while taking advantage of the always pleasant weather that prevails in the southern city.

This weekend, between December 30 and January 1, there will be an electronic rock party that will include two performances - by Infected Mushroom and the Balkan Beat Box and Berry Sakharof.

The Sakharof and Balkan show will take place on Thursday night, and the next day there will be a party throughout the night that will be won by several DJs as well as Infected.

Price per couple for the entire package for Dan Eilat guests (on a half board basis) - NIS 5,400.

Price per couple for the entire package for Dan Panorama Eilat guests (on a breakfast basis) - NIS 3,290.

Price per couple for the entire package for Neptune guests in Eilat (on a breakfast basis) - NIS 3,390.
