A firefighter is said to be responsible for eleven fires in Saxony-Anhalt.
The fires were set in Zerbst between 2019 and 2021, as announced by the police and public prosecutor in Dessau-Roßlau.
Among other things, gazebos, wood piled up in forests, cornfields and straw stalks burned.
The total damage is estimated at around 40,000 euros.
Prosecution is being prepared
The accused is a 36-year-old man from the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district.
He is a member of the volunteer fire brigade.
Interrogations, searches and a DNA hit led the investigators to track down the alleged perpetrator in October.
The public prosecutor is currently preparing the indictment.
