The carabinieri of Milan carried out a precautionary custody order in Vercelli, issued by the Turin magistrate, against an official of the Revenue Agency of the Piedmontese city, accused of abusive access to a computer or telematic system and attempted extortion to damage to the Loro Piana family of entrepreneurs. The activity of the Investigative Unit was born after the denunciation of the wife of the late entrepreneur Sergio Loro Piana, who had received an anonymous request for 300 thousand euros with the threat of disclosing confidential information on a dispute between the company and the Revenue Agency.
The investigations that led to the arrest of the official found that the suspect, author of the request for 300 thousand euros (in 800 pounds of gold), had made some queries in the "Serpico" database of the Revenue Agency, without no formal assignment.
He had collected information not only on the account of the company Loro Piana SpA and Loro Piana Sergio but he had drawn up and archived in the PC of his workstation some files relating to a "ranking" of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in the province of Vercelli, including the wife and family members of the deceased entrepreneur.
