(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 07 - Thirty sites, located on foreign servers, have been blocked by the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Health because various drugs against covid19 were advertised or offered for sale, also in Italian.

Among the drugs sold there is also ivermectin, an antiparasitic used in the veterinary field for which the EMA, in March 2021, recommended not to use the active ingredient for the prevention or treatment of covid.

With today's operation, the measures carried out so far in 2021 by the Nas rise to 313, 274 of which related to the Covid-19 emergency.

The virtual market conveyed by the internet, in fact, has become an important source of trade and supply of drugs. The Nas invite citizens to be wary of online offers of unauthorized or dubious medicines and products, recalling that the online sale of prescription drugs is prohibited and that for "non-prescription medicines", it is always necessary to check the presence of the national identification logo by clicking on which you are redirected to the web page of the Ministry of Health containing the data relating to the authorization.

In addition to ivermectin, among the other drugs offered online the antibiotic azithromycin, with respect to which AIFA has provided clinicians with useful elements to guide the prescription and to define a relationship between the benefits and risks for the individual patient, the anti-inflammatory colchicine, used to relieve pain from acute gout attacks, for which the AIFA, in April 2020, authorized a study for the sole clinical trial in the treatment of COVID-19, the antivirals lopinavir / ritonavir and the antimalarial hydroxychloroquine, regarding which the regulatory agency has issued specific restrictions and recommendations regarding the off-label use and finally indomethacin, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory used in the treatment of degenerative joint diseases, and ranitidine, used for the treatment of gastric ulcer or gastroesophageal reflux.
