Faced with epidemic pressure from Covid-19, the White plan was triggered in hospitals in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur on Tuesday, after those in Lyon and the Grand Est.

The health authorities have identified 1,665 new admissions to the hospital over the past 24 hours and 12,714 patients treated in hospitals across the country on Tuesday, against 12,096 on Monday and 10,249 seven days ago.

Of these people, 2,351 work in critical care services, reserved for the most severe cases.

They were 2,191 the day before and 1,824 a week earlier.

The symbolic bar of more than 2,000 patients was crossed last Friday.

Some 408 people seriously ill with Covid have joined these units since Monday.

Public Health France identified 59,019 new infections with SARS-CoV-2 or one of its variants this Tuesday evening.

Health authorities have also identified 168 individuals who died due to infection with SARS-CoV-2 or one of its variants in the past 24 hours.
