(ANSA) - PRATO, 07 DEC - The court of Prato has granted a plea deal to Don Francesco Spagnesi, the priest arrested for drug parties and for having stolen money from his parish as well as for having swindled the faithful. Fr Spagnesi made a three-year and eight-month deal. Taking into account the favorable opinion of the parties, the investigating judge accepted the plea bargain in the hearing today. For the priest falls the charge of attempted serious injuries, hypothesized on the possibility that he has kept silent diseases sexually transmissible to partners. There remain the accusations of dispatch and trafficking of drugs and of embezzlement of the money of the offers. Don Spagnesi's companion also negotiated with 3 years and 2 months: the accusation for him is of drug trafficking in competition: together with the second priest, he bought the Gbl,the so-called rape drug.
According to what emerges, Don Francesco Spagnesi will probably serve the sentence to social services and stay in a therapeutic community to treat his drug addiction.
A canonical process is also foreseen to establish its path within the Church.
The Diocese of Prato removed him from the parish and suspended from his duties as a priest.
