A marathon tour across Europe, and soon an album?
The Cure, the legendary group led by Robert Smith, announced yesterday a marathon European tour of 44 dates.
The English will travel to 22 countries, from October to December 2022. A rare occurrence, no less than eight concerts are planned across France.
The English will begin at the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon on November 7, before appearing at the Arena Sud in Montpellier on November 8, at the Zénith in Toulouse on November 13, at the Arkea Arena in Bordeaux on November 14, at the Zénith in Nantes on November 15, at the Zénith in Strasbourg on November 18, at the Liévin covered stadium on November 27, before ending in apotheosis with a concert at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris on November 28.

The first part will be provided by the Scottish post-punk band The Twilight Sad.
The Cure's last visit to France dates back to August 2019, when they were headlining the Rock En Seine festival.
Two new albums in 2022?
The announcement of such a rapid and substantial tour was far from obvious a few months ago.
In August, historic bassist Simon Gallup slammed the door, only explaining that he was
"fed up with being betrayed."
A departure finally anecdotal, since the bassist himself announced his return to the group in October.

The group now seems ready to release a new record. Last June, Robert Smith explained to Apple Music that
“in about six weeks I'll be able to say when it's all out and what we'll do next year ... We have made two albums and one of them. is very, very dark, and the other is not. "
If the six-week deadline is long past, the scale of the upcoming tour leaves little doubt: at least one Cure album should arrive in our ears in 2022.
Formed in 1978, The Cure has become one of the most influential groups of its time thanks to a subtle blend of new wave, pop and psychedelic melody and a Gothic aesthetic.
In the 1980s, the group enjoyed resounding success for a so-called
“alternative” group
, thanks to albums such as
Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
or
Disintegration.
In recent years, the group has focused on touring, with their last record
4:13 Dream
dating back to 2008.
