Popularized on social networks the fashion of the "perfect smile" of a radiant white could bring down many teeth, and at a young age.
Alarmed by the number of videos of influencers with filed teeth "like those of sharks" and the requests of his patients, the dentist with more than 300,000 subscribers decided to speak on TikTok to denounce the phenomenon.
“Young influencers go abroad, especially to Turkey, to have their teeth cut to receive what they claim to be veneers. But they are actually dental crowns, ”explains Dr. Kevin. Veneers simply require smoothing the visible part of the tooth while for crowns, the dentist must trim “the entire contour of the tooth”, he says. A process normally used on teeth that are already damaged because filing weakens the teeth. "No dentist in France will agree to do that on healthy teeth," he says. The long-term risk? According to him, there is a high probability that the dentist will have to remove the crown and devitalize the tooth ... Or even extract it in the worst case scenario. This is what happened with one of his patients who ended up with dentures at the age of 30.

"When I'm older, my teeth can weaken, I know," agrees Alexandro.
Complexed by his teeth, the student tiktoker took the plunge and had his veneers installed in Dubai last year.
"It's twice cheaper than in France where I was offered quotes at 20,000-30,000 euros," he explains.
"Today there are so many ways to rectify our teeth, to change them ... So frankly I am not afraid of the risks", assures the young man of 18 years.
