(ANSA) - MANSURA, 07 DEC - Two Italian diplomats are in the new wing of the old Palace of Justice in Mansura to monitor the third hearing of the trial against PatrickZaki scheduled for this morning.

They also joined diplomats from the USA, Spain and Canada who participate in the monitoring at the request of the Embassy of Italy, a lawyer from the Delegation of the European Union and a trusted lawyer from the Italian diplomatic representation in Cairo.
There had been a presence of Italian diplomats, in all the hearings that from February 2020 marked Patrick's court case, until last summer in the form of renewals of pre-trial detention and from September as part of the ongoing trial.
The presence of European diplomats takes place in the context of an EU monitoring program of the most important cases for the respect of human and civil rights, which are also associated with non-Western European countries.
In the classroom there are among others George, Patrick's father, and his mother Hela with whom an Italian diplomat spoke briefly.
