Comment installer un disque dur externe sur ma Xbox ?

Les consoles sont vendues avec des espaces de stockage interne limités et la bibliothèque des joueurs assidus va se trouver très rapidement pleine. L’installation d’une extension sur sa Xbox est quasiment obligatoire et heureusement, très facile. La plupart des appareils sont plug-and-play, c’est-à-dire qu’il suffit de les connecter pour qu’ils fonctionnent. Pour aller plus loin, voici comment formater votre appareil lors de son installation et quelques conseils pour bien le choisir.

Le formatage

Lors de la première utilisation de votre disque externe, votre console vous demandera de le formater afin de s’y lier. Cela signifie la perte de toutes les données déjà présentes. Ainsi, même si votre appareil est compatible avec toutes les plateformes, une fois connecté à votre Xbox, nous vous conseillons de le réserver à cet usage. Par contre, vous pourrez utiliser cette extension pour vos jeux, mais aussi pour votre contenu multimédia, la Xbox le reconnaîtra comme tel. Si vous deviez annuler le formatage, vous pourrez le reprendre en sélectionnant le chemin suivant : Profil et système > Paramètres > Système > Stockage. Rétrocompatibilité

Quel disque dur externe choisir ?

Les consoles Xbox accueillent les HDD et les SSD. Ces derniers vous assureront un confort d’utilisation optimal, car le transfert de vos jeux sera bien plus rapide. Cependant, leur prix encore élevé pourra rebuter certains. Vous devez vous assurer que l’extension choisie est compatible avec la technologie USB 3.0 ou plus rapide.

La capacité de stockage doit être au minimum de 128 Go. Les jeux actuels sont volumineux, un disque dur externe d’au moins 1 To pour sa bibliothèque Xbox est donc un bon investissement. Si la capacité minimum d’une extension doit être de 128 Go, elle n’est pas suffisante pour y conserver des jeux. La Xbox Series X dispose d’un SSD interne de 1 To, et pourtant, le gamer fidèle se retrouvera vite avec une console pleine. Les titres actuels pèsent lourd (de 40 à 60 Go.), vous devez donc prévoir un espace externe conséquent pour tous les accueillir… ou en avoir plusieurs. C’est une solution envisageable quand on sait que les jeux conçus pour la Xbox Series ne peuvent pas être lancés depuis une extension externe. Vous pouvez ainsi décider de conserver les jeux récents sur le SSD interne, vos titres rétro compatibles favoris sur un SSD externe et ceux auxquels vous jouez moins sur un HDD plus volumineux et moins cher.
