(ANSA) - PARIS, 08 DEC - "We are careful not to falsify history": this is the warning sent by Emmanuel Macron, this morning from the microphones of the radio France Bleu Paysd'Auvergne, to the far-right candidate Eric Zemmour, who had declared that the French collaborationist regime of "Vichy protected the French Jews".
Macron pointed out, without naming Zemmour, that history "is written by historians and it is a good thing to stick with that."
"We are careful not to falsify history - he added - to confuse it, to make revisions. We have everything to gain by respecting history".
Zemmour, at the end of September, said that "Vichy has protected French Jews and handed over foreign Jews. It is easy - he added - to say 50 years later that it is France's fault. France is not guilty, Germany is the culprit".
