Michael Sheen has declared himself a "Not for Profit" actor.
He wants to use his fees for charitable purposes in the future.
That's what Sheen told the British street magazine "The Big Issue".
The turning point for him was the organization of the 2019 World Cup for the homeless in Cardiff, said the 52-year-old Welshman.
When funding for the £ 2 million project failed at the last moment, Sheen sold his two homes in the United States and Wales to rescue it.
“I made a commitment to help with the organization and then suddenly there was no more money.
So I put all my money into keeping the project going, ”Sheen said.
“It was scary and incredibly stressful.
I'll have to pay for it for a long time. ”In the end, however, he realized that he was financially in a position to bear such bailouts and that they would not ruin him as long as he continued to earn money.
"There was something very liberating about saying, okay, I'll put a lot of money into this or that because I can make it back," Sheen said.
"I've essentially transformed myself into a social enterprise, a nonprofit actor."
Sheen, known from films like "Frost / Nixon" and "Twighlight" or TV series like "Master of Sex" and "Good Omens" has been involved in the social field for several years.
He supports a number of UK charities, founded the End High Cost Credit Alliance to enable people to find affordable credit, funded scholarships for Welsh students at Oxford University.
