Dozens of archeological items, some of which are almost 2,000 years old, were found last night in a vehicle that aroused the suspicion of the Jerusalem police.

Last night (Tuesday), the Israeli police arrested three suspects, two residents of East Jerusalem and one Palestinian, who aroused the suspicion of detectives in the heart of Jerusalem and dozens of archeological items were found in their vehicles, some from the Bar Kochba revolt (135-132 AD).
During the vehicle inspection, the detectives located many archeological items in the possession of the suspects in the vehicle, and a professional inspection by the Antiquities Authority identified the items as exhibited from the Bar Kochba Revolt and the Roman and Byzantine periods.
The suspects were transferred to the police station for further investigative treatment in collaboration with the Antiquities Authority's Antiquities Robbery Prevention Unit, who received the items.

Second case this week
This is the second case in recent days in which police officers and detectives from the Jerusalem District of the police locate archeological items, which are illegally held in the possession of the suspects.
Earlier this week, on the last day of Hanukkah, detectives from the Central Unit located thousands of years old archeological items in the possession of a resident of East Jerusalem in his thirties, including a Hasmonean coin from the time of Matityahu Antigonus bearing the Temple lamp, a seal ring from the biblical period with an ancient Hebrew inscription. The suspect was taken for questioning at the Jerusalem Police Station, an investigation conducted in cooperation with the Israel Antiquities Authority.
