What is rolling comes from the depths of the mountain.
They are volcanic bombs, also called lava bombs.
The boulders, melted round by the heat, are at least a few centimeters in diameter, but some are significantly larger.
On the Canary Island of La Palma, drone pilots have now filmed the falling bobbins.
Close to the crater, you can see the glow of the mountain through its porous outer walls.
Even at night, the cameramen let drones rise, behind clouds of volcanic gas, the fire glows eerily dark red.
The outbreak on La Palma now lasts almost 80 days.
Two types of eruption alternate: Sometimes the volcano splashes geyser-like lava fountains.
Then again he pumps thick clouds of ash into the sky.
Lava bombs can occur with both types.
Up to now, however, they have only rarely been filmed in motion.
