The Swedish pop group
Abba
won the
race for the top of the annual album charts by a large margin
.
This is what the market researchers from the GfK Entertainment Group report, who compile the German charts on behalf of the Federal Association of the Music Industry.
Abba's comeback work »Voyage« was at the top for three weeks, longer than any other record in 2021. In total, the album has already been sold over 400,000 times in Germany alone.
Helene Fischer
, who led the annual evaluation five times in six years in the decade, came in second this time with her album "Rausch".
Behind the hit superstar is the album of the year 2020, »Power Up« by
AC / DC
, as well as works by two other rock bands:
Die Ärzte
with »Dunkel« on four and
Iron Maiden
with »Senjutsu« on six.
After only three weeks of sales, the British singer
Adele
landed
with "30" in a respectable seventh place.

In addition to Helene Fischer, who brought another album into the top ten with “The Helene Fischer Show - My Most Beautiful Moments (Vol. 1)” in eighth place
,
Udo Lindenberg has
five
with
Santiano
(“When the cold comes”)
(Best of album “Udopium” on nine) and the rapper
Kontra K
(“From the light to the shadows back”, number ten) other albums by German interpreters in the top field.
No German single in the top ten
Usually the weekly single charts in particular are characterized by German rap.
But the hits of the rappers often rise quickly and crash quickly, while the annual charts apparently reward the longer-lasting effect.
And international titles were better off in 2021.

The English star

with his single "Bad Habits".

Pop newcomer Olivia Rodrigo: How “Driver's License” became a global hitBy Felix Bayer
For the fifth time in a row,
Bausa
and
Apache 207 are
the most popular German-language titles of the year, market researchers noticed.
After Bausa (“Was du Liebe nennst”) prevailed in 2017 and 2018 and Apache 207 (“Roller”) won in the following years, hip-hoppers now come in eleventh with “Madonna”.
Overall, over a quarter of the Top 100 consist of German-language songs and almost half of nationally produced tracks.
The strongest female act is US newcomer
Olivia Rodrigo
, who comes in ten ("Good 4 U") and 26 ("Drivers License").
