Miss France 2022: Diane Leyre elected thanks to the vote of the jury

2021-12-12T13:21:39.906Z

Miss Ile-de-France, who won the crown on Saturday night, was not the public's first choice. It is thanks to the vote of the jury, which counts

Each Miss France election is accompanied by its share of disappointments, annoyed at not having seen their favorite win the crown.

The 2022 election, which took place on Saturday evening on TF1, live from Zenith in Caen, was no exception to the rule.

Because Diane Leyre, Miss Ile-de-France, was only third in the standings, counting only the public vote.

Viewers had placed Miss Martinique and Miss Alsace in first and second position.

It is the jury, chaired this year by Jean-Pierre Pernault who, thanks to her points, hoisted the Parisian on the first step of the podium.

We explain to you.

How it works ?

Of the 29 candidates on the starting line, 15 are chosen to continue the adventure.

It is a preselection committee, made up of former Misses, production, members of the chain, which draws up the list.

From that moment, the public is invited to vote to keep only 5 competitors.

The votes are then counted: the public counts for 50% and the jury for 50%.

To read also “We must always believe in it”: who is Diane Leyre, the new Miss France?

In this first round, Miss Martinique is already leading the public vote.

Miss Ile-de-France ranks second.

The jury, for its part, has already found its favorite, Diane Leyre winning the maximum 15 points.

And Floriane Bascou, the candidate for the island of the Antilles, only arrives in 7th position for Jean-Pierre Pernaut and his gang.

So we end up with Miss Ile-de-France, Miss Tahiti, Miss Martinique, Miss Alsace and Miss Normandy.

The second round in a pocket square

In the final draw, until last year, only the vote of the public counted to elect the winner from the five remaining candidates. But since the election of Amandine Petit, Miss France 2021, the choice of the jury now counts up to 50%, or as much as that of the public. This is what allowed Diane Leyre to win the crown: the Parisienne, 3rd among the public, was always the first choice of the jury. While Miss Martinique, leading the votes of viewers, stagnated in 5th and last position among the jury.

In the end, it is the Ile-de-France who wins with 8 points, against 6 for her West Indian rival.

Miss Alsace and Miss Tahiti won 6 points.

But the rules specify that in the event of a tie, the public vote wins.

Floriane Bascou being the favorite of viewers, she therefore finished first runner-up.
