Sleep is the time when our body rests, regenerates itself, builds muscles and arranges memories.

Ironically, it is also an operation that sometimes produces so much pain, orthopedic problems and busy muscles that can paint the whole day ahead of us black.

These pains in the morning can of course have many causes - from the quality of the mattress to every action you did the day before.

But one of the most common causes of the problem is one that can definitely be affected - your sleeping position.

Some of the postures that people sleep in can cause quite a bit of trouble in the present and in the future - from minor problems like busy shoulders to more serious medical conditions like spinal cord injury.

The persistent pains as a result of incorrect sleeping position can also appear in the neck, back or even in more distant areas of the body.

So yes, we know what you're thinking - after falling asleep, it's impossible to control the position in which you sleep.

We all move around and move so much during the night, some of us even talk and go out of sleep.

So how can you avoid sleeping in the wrong position?

The short answer is that it is impossible.

For the longer answer, keep reading.

The most harmful sleeping positions

Lori Lidley is an American who founded and runs a sleep lab called Valley Sleep Center.

In an interview with Real Simple magazine, she noted that "sleeping with your hands over your head, falling asleep with your head on your arms, or placing your hands under a pillow, can over time cause painful injuries as well as ongoing orthopedic damage."

This is the worst.

Dr. Roberto Oxman, who runs a sleep diagnostic institute called the Sleep to Live Institute, stressed in an interview with Bustle that "sleeping in such a position can produce constant pressure on the nervous system, which can both harm health and cause circumcision of the hands and various nerve injuries."

In general, you should know that the least good position for health is also the one that so many people like to sleep in - on the abdomen. Your wakefulness in the morning.

How to control the sleeping position?

The ideal way to reduce the risk of pain and orthopedic problems during the night is to simply fall asleep lying on your back or side.

This way you can allow your arms to rest properly, without much effort, and you will prevent the neck from "getting stuck" in an unnatural position.

But like most healthy things in the world, these sleeping positions are usually the ones people like the least - and for some of us it's just hard to impossible to fall asleep in them.

You will find something to embrace.

So what can be done anyway?

Just use more pillows, big dolls, a mate, or any other cuddle you can think of.

Try to fall asleep when you hug something with your arm and also put a pillow between your legs.

So even when you fall asleep, this extra support will reduce the body's natural tendency to raise its hands above its head.

And if you want to try a more advanced and extreme solution, you will know that Lidley even recommends tying the hands on the sides of the body before falling asleep, to prevent them from going up during the night.

Advanced and extreme have we already said?
