Almost every household has at least one microwave in the kitchen.

But how do you clean them thoroughly after use?

To reheat cold food quickly, the microwave is the device of choice in many households.

The desired food is heated up quickly, and you don't have to keep heating or cooking something on the stove for ages.

However, if you use it frequently, especially from liquid food or drinks that leave splashes, your microwave can get dirty quickly.

Fresh soiling can usually be easily wiped off.

Older

incrustations

or

grease stains

are more difficult to remove.

However, with a few

simple home remedies

, you can remove any dirt very quickly.

How to clean your microwave with dish soap

A tried and tested detergent to get rid of debris in your microwave is

dish soap

.

To do this, fill a saucepan with some water and add a few splashes of washing-up liquid.

Bring the mixture of detergent and water to the boil briefly on the stove and then place the saucepan in the microwave.

When you close their door, the water vapor spreads inside.

The home remedy needs about five minutes to fully develop its cleaning power.

After the time has elapsed, take the pot out again and wipe off the remaining steam and the loosened dirt from your microwave with a damp cloth.

Cleaning the microwave: Citric acid will keep it sparkling clean again

Citric acid

is also suitable for cleaning your microwave

Like washing-up liquid, it smells pleasantly clean and fresh.

For cleaning with citric acid,

add

a tablespoon of lemon juice or a few lemon

wedges

to a

microwaveable

bowl

filled with water

.

Put the bowl in the microwave and let the detergent boil for a maximum of five minutes.

You can then wipe off the remains with a damp cloth.

A real insider tip: You can clean your microwave thoroughly with lemon juice and it will smell pleasantly fresh afterwards.

Mixture of vinegar and water to clean the microwave

Vinegar

has also been shown to be an effective detergent at combating dirt in the microwave.

To do this, fill a microwave-safe bowl with some water and add a few drops of vinegar.

Put the mixture back in the microwave and let it boil on a maximum of five minutes.

The vinegar water also evaporates and settles as condensation on the microwave walls.

The dirt is loosened and only needs to be wiped off with a damp cloth.
