Les Francofolies de La Rochelle, Garorock, Musilac, les Eurockéennes, We Love Green, Les Déferlantes, Rock en Seine… The major French festivals are revealing their programming one after the other and opening their ticket office in the hope that their tickets and packages will end. under the Christmas trees. It is the turn of the largest, the Vieilles Charrues, to unveil this Monday at 6 p.m. the program of its thirtieth anniversary on the immense plain of Carhaix (Côtes d'Armor). And for the first time, the Breton festival announces before Christmas all the artists of this edition. That is more than 70 names welcomed from July 14 to 17, 2022.

At first glance, it is obvious: the preponderance of French-speaking artists, including all the headliners who are making the news at the end of the year: Orelsan, Ninho, Angèle, Juliette Armanet.

Or those who will release their new albums in the first half of 2022, such as the Belgian Stromae, who will be back in stores on March 4 and will perform in Carhaix on July 14.

The two main stages will also welcome on this inaugural day Clara Luciani and Hollysiz, Maxime Le Forestier, the rapper SCH, the Irish rockers of Fontaines DC and the furious techno fanfare Meute…

The focus on discoveries

On July 15, the crowd will dance after dark with DJ Snake, Frenchman hailed around the world.

The day was busy with, among others, Angèle, Juliette Armanet, the sensitive techno of Irène Drésel, the enchanted Africa of Fatoumata Diawara, the leaping Aloïse Sauvage, the unclassifiable Vladimir Cauchemar and Rilès, the Breton rock group Matmatah, who will give a special concert on the rediscovered plain of Kerampuilh.

Faithful to its tradition, the festival will also give pride of place to discoveries, notably with Lolo Zouaï, Bianca Costa, Lulu Van Trapp, Chilla, Viagra Boys, La Battue…

Saturday will be carried by two beautiful international headliners: the American rockers of Queens Of The Stone Age and the English soul revelation Celeste. A very promising meeting will also take place between Bob Sinclar and Pedro Winter, DJ and ex-manager of Daft Punk and Justice, the eagerly awaited returns of -M- and Izïa, with new albums and we can feast with the boss rap Ninho, vintage electro from Vitalic, the Belgian revelation Lous And The Yakuza… Finally, on Sunday, Orelsan will end the party in style, with Feu! Chatterton, the Ibeyi sisters, DJ Madeon, the pop geniuses Metronomy, the summer electro duo Polo & Pan, the local of the stage, Lujipeka, and the return of Vianney, already present last summer during an edition of resistance which brought together 30,000 spectators over ten evenings.

An ambitious budget and low prices

We imagined more spectacular international artists for this anniversary edition.

But the Vieilles Charrues may not have said their last word.

The rumor speaks of a possible fifth exceptional day with the Rolling Stones.

If confirmed, this date would be added at the beginning of July and connected to a European summer tour of the English, with a visit to the Garorock festival (June 30 to July 4 in Marmande).

"It is obviously a group that we dream of welcoming and, if there are opportunities, we will be able to seize them", announces the head of the Breton festival, Jérôme Tréhorel, without getting carried away.

While waiting for this flamboyant birthday present, Jérôme Tréhorel wants to be pragmatic: “Our poster responds to the popular and 100% associative DNA of our festival,” he explains. Anniversary requires, we invite artists who have marked our history, but the French-speaking scene being particularly dense, why go looking for less unifying international artists? After two difficult years, one canceled and the second showing a deficit, we have managed to keep an ambitious budget

(17 million euros)

and low prices. »The one-day ticket is still available from 44 euros, the three-day passes from 122 euros and the four-day pass at 162 euros. The ticket office will open on December 15 at 7 p.m. exclusively on www.vieillescharrues.asso.fr.
