(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 14 - There will be an encore appeal for the two accused defendants guilty of the injury of the swimmer Manuel Bortuzzo: this was decided by the Supreme Court which ordered the Court of Appeal of Rome to re-examine the existence or otherwise of the aggravating circumstance of premeditation.
This opens up the possibility of a further discount for Lorenzo Marinelli and Daniel Bazzano, the two young men sentenced for the attempted murder of Manuel to the penalty of 14 years and Ottomans, reduced on appeal compared to the first degree when the penalty was for 16 years. The supreme judges therefore accepted one of the defense requests of the two accused, their responsibility remained established.
Bortuzzo was wounded by a gunshot to the back which left him paralyzed.
The shooting took place the night between 2 and 3 February 2019 in Rome.
